If 3 out of 5 are oranges, this means the ratio is 3 oranges for every 5 total.

If there are 12 oranges, this is 4 groups of 3 oranges. You will need 4 groups of 5 total to make it equivalent.

4 x 5 = 20 total fruit.

3 x 4 = 12
5 x 4 20

Answer:

The number of picks in all are:

20

Explanation:

It is given that:

3 out of 5 picks are oranges.

i.e. out of the total 5 picks 3 are oranges.

so, the probability of oranges is:

3/5

Let 'n' picks be made.

Now, it is given that out of n picks made 12 are oranges.

i.e. the probability of oranges is:

12/n

Since, the probability of oranges are equal.

Hence,

(3)/(5)=(12)/(n)\\\\n=(12* 5)/(3)\\\\n=20

Hence, the total number of picks that are made are:

20
