Answer: y = -1/4 + 30

Step-by-step explanation: Slope intercept for: y= mx + b

5x + 20y = 600

-5x -5x

20y = -5x + 600

divide both sides by 20

y = -1/4 + 30

Did this last year that's how I know it is right.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

\textsf{Slope-intercept form}: \quad y=-(1)/(4)x+30

\textsf{Slope}: \quad -(1)/(4)

\textsf{$y$-intercept}: \quad 30

Explanation:

\boxed{\begin{minipage}{6.3 cm}\underline{Slope-intercept form of a linear equation}\\\\$y=mx+b$\\\\where:\\ \phantom{ww}$\bullet$ $m$ is the slope. \\ \phantom{ww}$\bullet$ $b$ is the $y$-intercept.\\\end{minipage}}

Given equation:

5x + 20y = 600

To convert the given equation to slope-intercept form:

  • Subtract 5x from both sides.
  • Divide both sides by 20.

\boxed{\begin{array}{rccccccc}5x &+ & 20y & = & 600&&&\\-5x & & & && -5x &&\\\\\cline{1-8}\\& & (20y)/(20) & = & (-5x)/(20) & + & (600)/(20)\\\\&& y&=&-(1)/(4)x & + & 30\end{array}}

\textsf{Slope-intercept form}: \quad y=-(1)/(4)x+30

\textsf{Slope}: \quad -(1)/(4)

\textsf{$y$-intercept}: \quad 30
