Find the area of the shaded region: shaded circle diameter=14 cm, rectangle inside base=9 cm, height=3 cm

Pictuere is missing so i created picture myself as per given description.

It seems that rectangle is inside the circle.

Area between circle and rectangle is shaded as shown in figure.

Given that diameter of the circle = 14 cm

then radius of the circle = 14/2 = 7 cm

Area of the circle is given by


Area = \pi r^2 = (22)/(7)*7^2= 154 square cm


Given that base of rectangle = 9 cm

Given that height of rectangle = 3 cm

Then area of the rectangle = length * width = base * height = 9*3 = 27 square cm.


Now area of the shaded region is given by

Shaded Area = (Area of circle) - (Area of rectangle)

Shaded Area = 154 - 27 = 127 square cm


Hence final answer is 127 square cm.
