the length of Q is 25% more than the length of p
the area of Q is 10% less than the area of p
work out the ratio of x:y
give your answer in its simplest form

the length of Q is 25% more than length of P = 40 + 25% * 40 = 50
the area of Q is 10% less than the area of P = 40*x - 10% * 40*x = 36*x
the area of Q = 50*y = 36*x
x / y = 50 / 36 = 25 / 18
answer is 25 : 18
