Given Two points are :-

A(2,12) and B(-1,17)

Slope of the line that is parallel to AB is given by formulae y2-y1/x2-x1

=> m = 17-12/-1-2 = 5/-3=-5/3

Also parallel lines run in same direction and hence have same slope!
