d² - 7d + 8 = 0

a = 1, b = -7 , c = 8

\text {Discriminant=} b^2 - 4ac

\text {Discriminant=} (-7)^2 - 4(1)(8) = 49 - 32 = 17

Answer: 17 (Answer B)
