Does the expression 1.016x repersent a percent increase greater than 12% if the original amount is x? Rewrite the expression as a sum of two terms to explain why or why not

Let
x---------> the original amount

we know that
a percent increase of 12% of x is
x*[100%+12%]/100------> x*[112]/100----> x*1.12

1.016x
x*[100%+1.6%]/100------> x*[101.6%]/100---> 1.016x
so
1.016x-------> represent a percent increase of 1.6% of x

so

the answer is
1.016x is not a percent increase greater than 12%
