For this case, the first thing you should do is multiply the rate of decrease by time.
We have then:
(3.6 × 10-2) * (1.8 × 104)
= 648 mm
We are going to convert this number into scientific notation:
= 6.48 * 10 ^ 2 mm
Rounding we have:
= 6.5 * 10 ^ 2 mm
