Martin Luther King Jr's use of nonviolent protest is still a way of protesting we see in American society today. Martin Luther King Jr. advocated for civil rights by encouraging people to peacefully protest by conducting marches, sit-ins, or boycotts as a means to cause change. These actions resulted in massive changes across the US, including the outlawing of segregation policies in the southern states. Women, during the women's liberation movement, used these types of tactics (such as marches) to cause social change as well.
