Hello!
You can put y into one of the equations
4x - 21 = -5x + 24
Add 5x to both sides
9x - 21 = 24
Add 21 to both sides
9x = 45
Divide both sides by 9
x = 5
You can now put x into one of the original equations
y = 4(5) - 21
y = 20 - 21
y = -1
The answer are x = 5 and y = -1
