1 gallon = 30 miles

5 hours = 250 miles

250 / 30 = 8 (1)/(3)
Fraction of amount of gasoline used =

( (25)/(3) )/(12) \\ = (25)/(3) * (1)/(12) \\ = (25)/(36)
Answer is 25/36

Hope this helps. - M
