(29.40 / .12) - (23.04 / 12) = .53

It is given in the question that , Each week a cook purchases 12 pounds of butter. During the last year the cook has paid as little as 23.04 and as much as 29.40 for the butter purchased in a week .

And we have to find the difference between the largest and smallest price per pound .

And for that, first we do the subtraction, that is

=29.40-23.04=$6.36

And this is the price difference for 12 pounds of butter.

Therefore price per pound is

(6.36)/(12) = $0.53
