The formula of volume of cylinder is


Volume = \pi *r^2 * h

And in the given question , diameter is 6inches. And radius is half of diameter, so radius = 3 inches .

Given volume is


Volume = 271.4

So we have


271.4 = \pi * 3^2 *h


271.4 = 9 \pi h

Dividing both sides by 9 pi


h = (271.4)/(9 \pi) = 9.6 in
