The Japanese American citizens league fought for Japanese American citizens rights in several different ways since its creation in the 1920's. During World War II, this organization brought up legal cases that were testing the constitutionality of putting Japanese American citizens into internment camps after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

After the war, they continued this fight and helped gain compensation of Japanese-American citizens who lost their job during World War II due to their ancestry. Along with this, their organization fought for reparations from the federal government for the internment of innocent Japanese-American citizens.
