Hi there!

Here is the equation that we'd use, based on the image: 3 + 2x - 1 = x + 5. Now to solve for x, we first need to simplify, then subtract and divide things. Here is the work: 2 + 2x = x + 5 | 2 + x = 5 | x = 3. In order to make the two sides equal, x would need to equal 3.
