Bozo the clown just started to collect shoes. Currently, he has 135 pairs of shoes in his closet at the circus. On his birthday last week, his friends Coco, Bobo, and Gumby each gave him the same number of shoes. His grandfather gave him 11 pairs of shoes. Define your variable and write an equation that Bobo could use to figure out how many pairs of shoes each of his friends gave him

X = shoes given by his friends

135 - 3x + 11
-11 -11
124 = 3x
----- ------

Hi there!

Let x equal the amount of money each friend gave him.

135 - 3x + 11 = number of shoes

Now, we should solve:

135 - 3x + 11
= 135 + 11 - 3x
= 146 - 3x

Hope this helps!
