The United States emerged from the war in direct competition with the Soviet Union for international influence.

The US and the USSR became direct enemies after World War II for domination of the new world order. Capitalism and Communism took the front seat as a world issue. In addition, Great Britain could no longer sustain their top position as a world leader. This left the US to pick up the reigns and take over or Stalin would begin to influence the communist take over of vulnerable countries following the war.
