How was what happened to men during the great depression different from what happened to women? children?

Lots of young men were Drafted into WWII (I'm pretty sure around 15million volunteer/draft), this left lots of children and woman to take care of the US, this meant that Women were encouraged to go to factories to help for war efforts, this also brings in the picture of Rosie the Riveter, this was a new picture of women since Rosie is a tough factory worker girl, when back then girls were known as housewives.
