The area of a triangle is 80 in.2. the ratio of the length of its base to its height is 5 : 2. what are the base and height of the triangle? enter your answers in the boxes below.

Let the length of base be 5x and length of height be 2x .

Now we use the formula of area of the triangle , which is


Area = (1)/(2) base* height

Now we substitute the given values of base and height and the value of given area, we will get


80 = (1)/(2)*5x*2x

Multiply both sides by 2,


160 = 10x^2

Divide both sides by 10,

Taking square root to both sides


x = 4

So base is


= 5*4 = 20 in

And the height is


= 2*4 = 8 in
