You tend to forget stuff you have accomplished and done, so documenting prevents you from having to do it last minute and risk leaving something out.

It should be reviewed and revised regularly since it contains your personal details and it serves as a proof that you actually have experiences, education, and skills, even if you're not currently applying for a job.
