Ancient China and the Roman Empire were in indirect contact with each other, as they both knew of the existence of the other one.
Their cultural exchange consisted mostly of the indirect trade of goods, such as Chinese silk, Roman glassware and silverware, and cotton. Coins were exchanged between the two places thanks to the Silk Road. Most of the contact between these people, however, was done in an indirect way through the intermediate empires that existed in Central Asia, such as the Parthians and the Kushans.
