A coat is discounted 40% off its regular price which value is equivalent to 40%

multiply the regular price of the coat by 0.4. If the coat's price was $14.99, you would do 14.99x0.4, which would equal $6. If it comes to percentages, just think about money. Single-digit percentages such as 4% would be 0.04. Double-digit percentages such as 40% would be 0.40 (or simply 0.4). If it's triple-digit numbers such as 100%, it would be 1.00.
