The area can be found from the vertices by adding the products
.. p = (x₁*y₂ -x₂*y₁)
for successive pairs of points (in some order). The area is half the magnitude of that sum.

pQR = -42 -(-8) = -34
pRS = -20 -(-14) = -6
pSQ = -4 -(-30) = 26

(1/2)|pQR +pRS +pSQ| = (1/2)|-34 -6 +26| = 7

The area of triangle QRS is 7 square units.
