You and a friend are doing math homework together. You have to solve the equation 8 x plus 6 x minus 44 equals 66 minus 8 x8x+6x−44=66−8x. Your friend arrives at the incorrect answer x​ = 11. Find the correct value of x. Then find the error your friend possibly made.

To answer this question you should get rid of like terms:
8x+6x-44=66-8x *remember to cross out the terms you use
14x-44=66-8x (I can't show it on the computer)
-14x +66 +66-14x
_________________
22=-22x
divide by -22 divide by -22
______________________
-1=x (right answer)

Friend maybe wrong: with calculations and may have gotten
22=-2x (wrong)
