The city architects need to take into account the high rate of earthquakes that occur in the area. With knowing this, the buildings need to be designed to absorb the energy of the quake while it is happening as not to create large amounts of destruction. I hope this helps :)

Answer:

The areas on and around the convergent plate boundary are a high risk of getting affected by an earthquake. In order to build a city near this plate boundary, the architectures must be aware of the materials that are needed to be used for construction. The buildings must be constructed in such a way that it can transfer the force through the buildings and other structures, that are released during an earthquake. The materials used must be resistant and strong.

The construction of shear walls, cross braces, and diaphragms can help in reducing the effects of a seismic event.

The builders must also be aware of the location of fault zones and the construction of any large building must be avoided there.
