The length is w+2.3, where the units of the length and width are meters. Then the perimeter is
.. P = 2(w +(w +2.3))
.. 53 = 4w +4.6
.. (53 -4.6)/4 = w = 48.4/4 = 12.1
The width of the rectangle is 12.1 meters.
