"Jonah"

The Book of Jonah is a biblical book of the Old Testament and of the Hebrew Tanakh, which in the Christian Bibles is located between the books of Obadiah and Micah. Everything invites to place the composition after the Exile, in the course of the fifth century. Jonah is the only book of the Old Testament that deals exclusively with the commission commissioned to a prophet of Yahve to go to a pagan city, Nineveh, to proclaim a message of judgment, which resulted in the repentance of said city.

The book of Jonah is a narrative story that has the purpose of bearing witness to the grace of God and that the message of salvation is for all human beings. This book differs from the other prophetic books in the fact that it focuses on the prophet and not on his prophecies. The scripture only contains a verse that summarizes Jonah's message for Nineveh. Later Jesus will mention the story of Jonah as an illustration of his death and resurrection.
