prefrontal cortex.
The prefrontal cortex (PFC) is an area of the brain that is located in the frontal lobe of the cerebral cortex (refer to attached image). The PFC is known as the executive functioning area of the brain. It is responsible for complex cognitive functions, planning, critical thinking, forming judgments and personality expression. The PFC significantly develops during adolescence and develops fully when humans are approximately 25 years old.
