How did technology (streetcars, elevators, and factories) affect and change the way people lived?

Cars allowed people to live farther away from cities. Elevators allowed taller buildings to be built. Factories allowed more jobs and make things more widely available.

Cars gave people a much faster way to transport themselves and their families for either short or long distances much faster and consistently than horses could. Elevators made moving bags, people, ect. much faster and with a fraction of the effort. Factories could mass produce products faster, feeding the growing population and making anything that could be produced by factory much cheaper.
