Jessie is making decorations out of crepe paper for her sister's baby shower. She needs to make 16 flags for a streamer to hang along the edge of the cake table. The pattern she will use is shown to the right. How many square inches of crepe paper will she need to make one flag?

we know that

[area of the triangle]=b*h/2
where
b-------> is the measure of the base of triangle
h------> is the measure of the height of triangle
so

[area of the pink triangle]=14*14/2-------> 98 in²
[area of the blue triangle]=14*27.5/2-------> 192.5 in²
so
[square inches of crepe paper needed to make one flag]=98+192.5
[square inches of crepe paper needed to make one flag]=290.5 in²

the answer is
290.5 in²
