Jen determined the masses of 7 rocks. She recorded he mass of 6f each rock on the line plot below. On the chart there is 1/4= 2 x's

2/4= 3x's
3/4 2'xs
1=0 x's
What is the total mass, in kilograms, of the 7 rocks?

To find the total mass you will add the following masses together:

1/4 + 1/4 + 2/4 + 2/4 + 2/4 + 3/4 + 3/4

For every X you list the number that many times.

The sum is 14/4 or 3 2/4 or
3 1/2.

The answer is choice D.

Answer:

The total mass of the 7 rocks is
3(1)/(2) kilograms.

Explanation:

Total mass of first 2 rocks
=2((1)/(4))= (1)/(2) kg

Total mass of next 3 rocks
=3((2)/(4))= (6)/(4)=(3)/(2)kg

Total mass of next 2 rocks
=2((3)/(4))=(6)/(4)=(3)/(2)kg

So, the total mass of all 7 rocks
= (1)/(2)+(3)/(2)+(3)/(2)=(1+3+3)/(2)=(7)/(2)=3(1)/(2) kilograms.
