It would be 3 and 1/4 pounds because four times 1/2 is 2, and five times 1/4 is 1.25. two plus 1.25 is equal to 3.25, or three-forths.

5 x
1/4 = 1 1/4 or 1.25
4 x 1/2 = 2
1.25 + 2 = 3.25 or 3 and 1/4
