Why is treatment with antibiotics not recommended for the coommon cold

Antibiotics don't work on the common cold. They fight bacteria related illnesses. Colds are caused by viruses, so antibiotics won't do any good. The widespread use of antibiotics has led to the growth of several strains of common bacteria that are now antibiotic resistance.
