Asymmetric DSL uses broadband modem technology to transport high-bandwidth data over regular phone lines. DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line, which is a point-to-point public network access broadband Internet connections method that transmits digital signals over existing phone lines. Through the asymmetric DSL (ADSL) customers access the Internet and receive phone calls simultaneously. ADSL is asymmetric in that it uses most of the channel to transmit downstream to the user and only a small part to receive information from the user.
