The formula for the area of a kite is A = 1/2(d1 * d2). The diagonals on your kite are 20 inches and 19 inches. Let's plug those numbers into the formula: A = 1/2(20*19). First, multiply inside of the parenthesis: A = 1/2(380). Lastly, divide 380 by 2: A = 190in^2.

The area will be the sum of all triangles' areas.

Triangle area =
(b*h)/(2)

A1 =
(9.5*7)/(2)= 33.25

the other top triangle has the same area so A1+A2 = 33.25*2 = 66.5.

A3 =
(9.5*12)/(2)= 57

the other bottom triangle has the same area so A3+A4 = 57*2 = 114.

Then, the area is A1+A2+A3+A4 = 66.5+114 = 180.5
