A doghouse is to be built in the shape of a right trapezoid, as shown below. What is the area of the doghouse?

A right trapezoid with top side 7 feet and height 7 feet. The bottom side is extended to the right with 5 more feet.

First we will find the total measure of the second base.

Second base is extended more so that meas it will measure extended part plus the first base.

Second base = 7 + 5 = 12.

Now for the area.

A = 1/2(b1+b2)(h)
A = 1/2(7 + 12)(7)
A = 66.5

The area is 66.5 ft²

Hope this helps :)

Answer:

The area of the doghouse is
66.5\ ft^(2)

Explanation:

we know that

The area of trapezoid is equal to

A=(1)/(2)(b1+b2)h

where

b1,b2 are the parallel bases of trapezoid

h is the height of trapezoid

in this problem we have

b1=7\ ft

b2=7+5=12\ ft

h=7\ ft

substitute

A=(1)/(2)(7+12)7=66.5\ ft^(2)
