Answer:

Option A - 1/2 the height of the building

Explanation:

Given : A person stands 16 feet from a mirror and sees the top of a 12 foot building. The mirror is 32 feet from the building.

To find : The person's height is ?

Solution :

Let the height of the person be x foot.

Both the person and the building are standing vertical to the ground which means they make a similar right angle triangle,

We have given,

Distance of person from mirror A= 16 feet.

Distance of mirror from building B= 32 feet.

Building height C = 12 foot.

Person height D=x foot.

Applying the similar triangle proportionality,

(D)/(A)=(C)/(B)

(x)/(16)=(12)/(32)

Cross multiply,

x=(12* 16)/(32)

x=6

Therefore, The person height is 6 feet i.e, half of the building height.

So, Option A is correct.
