Maternal: its a mother cow. maternal instincts are basically parenting instincts. if you're trying to steal away its baby (or the corpse) i'd guess that the mom wouldn't be too pleased.

Answer: C. Maternal

The cow being the mother of the calf will show maternal instinct. The managements in the milk farm usually separates the calf from the mother after 24 hours of birth, this is mainly done to prevent an emotional bond between mother cow and calf and also, to prevent the quantity of milk for commercial purpose. If the calf is not separated early, the bond will develop and will also influence the quantity of milk. The cow usually calls the calf for feeding, creates panic responses if the calf is not found near or may not allow take out of milk from breasts.

In the given situation, the cow maternal instinct may be reflected if the attention of cow is not diverted from the calf. The diversion of attention of cow will allow the dead calf to be removed from the pasture.
