Each candidate had a solid regional base but none had the support of all regions. This presidential election witnessed the major political party to run several presidential candidates all from different regions with the hope that, they would be popular to defeat the Democratic bearer, Martin Van Buren in their regions. The strategy failed and Van Buren won the presidency.
