Answer:

Cleft Palate

Step-by-step explanation:

During pregnancy , a woman has to take extra care of her body and make sure that she and the growing foetus is safe and healthy.

Urinary Tract Infections are infections caused by bacteria that affects the urinary tract thereby causing painful urination.

Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic that can be used to treat urinary tract infections. Nitrofurantoin contains teratogens which when injested by a pregnant woman could cause birth defects and malformations to occur in the foetus. Examples of such malformations are Cleft palate where the roof or top of the mouth and lips of a baby is split open.

A teratogen can affect the development of the foetus and this may cause physical defects to the unborn child. Also, they may cause a pregnancy halt or a congenital malformation of the unborn child. These agents are harmful and they can even cause a pregnant woman to have a miscarriage.
