slope= (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)=(-7-3)/(4--1)=(-10)/(4+1)=(-10)/5=-2

The slope is m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

(-1, 3) and (4, -7)

m = (-7 - 3) / (4 - (-1))
m = -10 / (4 + 1)
m = -10 / 5
m = -2
