Explanation:

Substitute (or plug in) the x values into the rule:

y = 8/2 ⇒ 8 ÷ 2 = 4, so y = 4

y = 14/2 ⇒ 14 ÷ 2 = 7, so y = 7

For the last one, we have to rearrange the equation so that x is the subject, by multiplying both sides by 2: x = 2y

x = 2 × 3 ⇒ x = 6
