What is 4 3/10 plus 2 1/3

They need to have a common denominator. We can multiply the denominators by itself and see if we could half it and if they would still be related.

10×3=30
This is the lowest common denominator. For it to be the same problem, we to make the fractions equal with a denominator of 30.

Let's turn them improper.
43/10
Let's multiply the top and botom my 3.
129/30
Let's do the same for 2 1/3 except multiply the top and bottom by 10.
7/3=70/30

Let's solve.
129+70=199
The answer is 199/30, but we can simplify it. Since 199 is prime, we cant divide the top and bottom but we can turn it into a mixed number.
199÷30=6 R 19
6 19/30 is the sum.
