Help plzzz..... I don't understand.

At an outlet mall, the price of a pair of shoes is 40% less than the retail price(regular price). Jeffrey uses a coupon on the outlet mall's app to purchase the shoes with an additional 40% off. What percent of the retail price did Jeffrey pay?

Jeffrey is paying 20 percent of the original retail price because there are two 40 percent off coupons. 40 plus 40 equals 80 and that is 80 percent he is NOT paying so you subtract 80 from the total percent, which is 100, and you are left with paying 20 percent.

.6 *.6 (because each one is .4 off)= .36

.36 = 36% of the retail price
