The answer is 3/8

Divide the total pounds he started with by 6 because of the 6 bags.
2 1/4 lbs ÷ 6 bags or 2.25lb ÷ 6 bags
= 0.375lbs or 3/8 lbs in each bag
That's at least what I got.
