The expression needs to equal the number of stamps Ben has, so it should be in terms of a variable representing the number of stamps Jake has. B and D are in terms of Ben's stamps, so they can be eliminated. If Ben has four more than twice as many as Jake, he's going to have 2 times whatever Jake has, plus four, or 2s+4, which is C.
