Answer:

D. 3.0 N

B 17.3

Step-by-step explanation:

for the first one the other answer used the coordinate axis upside down.

the extension in cm are really on the y axis, and the weight in N on the x axis.

indeed, the extension is 19.2 - 17.0 = 2.2 cm.

when we look that up on the y-axis and cross over to the line, we get 3.0 N as answer.

the second part is correct also with the other answer :

we see in the third line (extension/ cm) that the extension is 2.1 cm.

so, the missing length/cm in the 2nd line is the original length 15.2 plus the extension of 2.1 = 17.3 cm

Answer:

2. B) 1.6 N

3. B) 17.3

Step-by-step explanation:

In the first one you minus the final length (with the load) from the original length to get the extension. 19.2-17.0=2.2. Now locate it in the graph. I located it (double-check if you can) so the answer is 1.6 N locate 2.2 down and then check till the line then go left straight.

In the second one, the original length is 15.2 (because there is no load added and the length is 15.2) and the extension is 2.1 so if you add them both you get the missing length of 15.2+2.1=17.3.

I hope it was clear.
