Find the area of the whole rectangle and then subtract the area of the smaller rectangle.
Whole rectangle: 10 * 12 = 120
Small rectangle: 7 * 2 = 14
Area of the figure = 120 - 14 = 106

A = (10 x 12) - (2 x 7)
A = 120 - 14
A = 106
