An acid turns blue litmus paper to red, with a lower pH in solution.

The answer is B.

Hope this helps.

pH ranges from a scale of 0 to 14, where everything below 7 is acidic and everything above 7 is basic. 7 is neutral.

The lower the pH, more the hydrogen Let's go through and eliminate the incorrect ones:
A) Incorrect. An acid has a low pH in solution because the pH < 7
C) Incorrect. An acid donates hydrogen ions (H+) in a solution.
D) Incorrect. An acidic solution has more H+ (hydrogen) ions, not hydroxyl (OH-) ions.

Therefore B) turns blue litmus paper to red is true.
When blue litmus paper is put in an acidic solution, it turns red. It does nothing in a basic solution. (Think Blue, Basic) When red litmus paper is put into a basic solution, it turns blue, and does nothing in acidic solution.
