How do epidemiology and biomedical science complement each other in improving people's understanding of chronic diseases?

For the answer to the question above, I could give an example.
Biomed science is a basis for epidemiology
(how risk factors --> epidemics = known biological factor --> epidemiology)
i.e. Framingham's study = high cholesterol is the risk factor for heart disease

Epidemiological research focuses on the factors that promote chronic degenerative diseases (whether physiological, biological (hence biomedical), environmental or behavioral) and their consequences.

For example, in the case of diabetes, biomedical parameters such as blood sugar, glycated hemoglobin, glycated albumin help predicting degenerative complications (such as diabetic retinopathy, diabetic foot and diabetic nephropathy ...), and mortality.
